Markets are ready and waiting
The EBCI Office of Planning and Development has identified key retail opportunities within the Boundary – businesses that are likely to succeed, if run well, because the market is ripe and competition is sparse and/or distant.
We identified opportunities by comparing the number of non-tourist retail establishments per 1,000 residents within the Boundary to number of non-tourist retail establishments per 1,000 residents in North Carolina as a whole. This comparison indicated significant shortages in retail and service areas here, including but not necessarily limited to:
- Personal and laundry services
- Clothing and clothing accessories
- Finance and credit
- Motor vehicles and auto parts
- Health and personal care stores
- Building materials, garden and supplies
- Furniture and home furnishings
- Electronics and appliances?
