Government - Vice Chief Larry Blythe
Vice Chief Blythe is a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and a life long resident of Western North Carolina. Vice Chief Blythe was born and raised in Swain County.
Mr. Blythe is a graduate of Swain County High School. He attended Haywood Technical College and obtained a degree in Forestry Management. Mr. Blythe then attended the University of Idaho and earned a graduate degree in Forestry Management. In 1983 he accepted employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Cherokee Agency as the Forestry Manager, during his employment he also served as the Wolfetown Community’s Representative on the Tribal Council of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
Vice Chief Blythe has served on numerous boards and committees during his service with the Eastern Band. He served on the boards of Vocational Opportunities, Child and Family Services, Intertribal Timber Council and many committees within the tribal Council.
In September 2003 he was elected to the position of Vice Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
